What should I avoid when choosing cybersecurity training?
I tend to be cautious with programs that feel a little too polished on the surface especially ones promoting cyber security training with job placement but not really showing what you’ll get your hands on. In my experience, even with providers like H2K Infosys, it pays to look beyond the pitch. If there’s no real lab work or practical exposure, that’s a bit of a warning sign. Skipping core basics like networking or Linux usually catches up with you later. And yeah, courses built only around recorded videos can feel pretty limiting.I’d usually look for at least some hands-on time with tools like Splunk, or exposure to real incident response situations otherwise it feels a bit too theoretical. And if the content seems outdated or doesn’t line up with something like Security+, I’d probably pause there. That kind of mismatch tends to show later when you try applying the skills.
