In business analysis, can a system be an actor in a use case diagram?

Yes, in business analysis, a system can absolutely be considered an actor in a use case diagram. An actor represents any external entity that interacts with the system being modeled. If another system sends data to or receives data from your system, it qualifies as an actor. For instance, a bank’s fraud detection engine or a government verification system can be actors when they interact with your product. Identifying system actors is crucial for accurately capturing system boundaries and integration points in business analysis. This concept is often emphasized in a comprehensive BA course, where learners gain practical experience in use case modeling and identifying all types of actors involved in a business process.
