Honestly, as a student still learning this stuff, I’ve realized it's less about being a "genius" at AI and more about being consistent with a few key things.

First, you need a strong foundation. Most people start with Python, basic data structures, and some math (especially linear algebra, probability, & a bit of calculus). You do not have to master everything, but understanding basics helps a lot when learning machine learning concepts.

Next, get your hands dirty and build something. Sure, courses are useful, but the real learning happens when you're putting things into practice. Try training a basic model, constructing a simple chatbot, tackling image classification, or diving into data analysis. Plus, projects give you tangible proof of your skills to showcase on GitHub when you're job hunting.

Third, learn the common tools used in AI. Things like TensorFlow or PyTorch, NumPy, pandas, and basic data visualization. You don't need to know every library, but being comfortable with a few industry tools makes a big difference.

Fourth, document your work. Writing short explanations, posting projects, or sharing what you learned helps people see your thinking process. A lot of hiring managers care about how you approach problems, not just the final result.

Finally, be patient. AI is a huge field and it can feel overwhelming at first. Most people who get hired didn’t learn everything overnight they just kept learning, building, and improving over time.

From what I’ve seen, if you combine solid basics + hands-on projects + a public portfolio, you’ll already be ahead of a lot of beginners trying to break into AI.
