Both DAX and Power Query are powerful tools for data transformations in Power BI, but they serve different purposes. Power Query is better suited for initial data shaping, cleaning, and loading especially when dealing with raw data. DAX, on the other hand, excels at creating calculated columns, measures, and dynamic aggregations once the data is loaded into the model. If you're building reusable models with complex business logic, DAX is ideal. However, for heavy data transformations, start with Power Query. For anyone new, Power BI online courses often teach both to help users understand when and how to use each effectively.
