Do cyber security analyst code as part of their daily job responsibilities?
In most roles, cyber security analysts do not code daily; based on my experience and work with teams trained at H2K Infosys, coding is usually light and task-specific rather than full-time development. Analysts mainly review logs, investigate alerts, and manage security tools, but they often write small scripts in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate analysis, parse data, or respond faster to incidents. Understanding scripting becomes more common as analysts grow or enroll in cyber security training with job placement to meet SOC expectations. Deeper coding is typically required in roles like security engineering, detection engineering, or malware analysis rather than entry-level analyst positions.
